Introduction

Combining aesthetic standards, fidelity to reality and collective memory.

As a photographer specializing in the military world, I develop documentary work devoted to the people, units and territories I accompany. My approach seeks to combine aesthetic standards, fidelity to reality and collective memory.

Photographer author

Photographing as close as possible to the field.

As a career soldier, I photograph as close as possible to the field, with the intention of preserving an accurate trace of what is often lived away from public view: gestures, faces, commitments, moments of tension or silence.

Each series is built over time: observation, selection, editing and preservation. A reportage is not only a sequence of images; it is a way of shaping a visual narrative.

War Artist

War Artist: linking an old tradition to a contemporary practice of the image.

In April 2026, I was appointed Peintre de l’Armée, an official distinction awarded to artists entrusted with bearing witness to the reality of the military world. Today open to photography, this recognition links an old tradition to a contemporary practice of the image.

This title does not change the nature of my work; it underlines its requirements. Photographing the army means finding a balance between aesthetics, fidelity to reality and documentary responsibility.

Memory

Conservation

We live in a permanent flow of images. Photographs appear, circulate and disappear. They are often consumed before they have truly been looked at.

My work stands against this acceleration. I seek to produce images that can be seen again, reread and preserved. Photographs capable of carrying a memory, even a discreet one, beyond the moment in which they were taken.

Prints

Transmission

A print gives the image another existence. It takes it out of the digital flow and gives it material presence, duration and conservation value.

Each work follows this logic: paper, format, edition, certificate of authenticity and traceability. A print is not merely a reproduction; it is the completed form of a photograph conceived to last.

Conclusion

Retain a part of reality before it fades.

Through my work, I do not only seek to show. I compose, sometimes shift the expected gaze, and use light, blur and precision to convey an atmosphere and give images lasting documentary value.
